• If the death only directly affects one pupil, they may not wish the whole school to know. It is important to speak to them and their family to discuss the options and find out what they would like people to know before anyone is told.
• Work out together with the pupil whether they would like the class/school told about it whilst they are present or whilst they are not there. Some children may want to tell pupils about it themselves and may need some support to do this.
