When death happens suddenly and unexpectedly there may be a huge rush of events all happening at once. Children and young people can find it very scary, particularly if they have directly witnessed the events themselves or heard others talk about them. In addition, children and young people may be exposed to others’ emotional reactions and everything can feel upsetting, uncertain and unsafe.
