Media Relations
- When events are high profile or of wider public interest the media can approach the school for information and to gather views within the community. When faced with this situation the local authority may be able to offer help in relation to processes and protocol around the media.
- The school needs to protect children, parents and staff from the glare of the publicity, particulary just after the event has happened. Keeping communication lines open between the school community and family/families is crucial and any communication with media should be agreed with the family’s/families‘ permission. A key individual should be identified as the contact person for media enquiries.
